A happy, thriving workforce is all about finding little ways to appreciate them. And we wanted to make this a core focus of our employee benefits, so this year we introduced an extra day off for birthdays.

This means every employee is entitled to take their birthday off. And if it happens to fall on a weekend, they can use the extra day on the closest Friday or Monday.

As we get closer to the end of Q3, we wanted to check in and see how people have celebrated their birthdays.

Good food, good times

This year, I used my “birthday day off” spending a long weekend at the beach on the Texas coast! Sunshine, salt water and seafood are always good for the soul… and also strawberry buttercream birthday cake. - Gina Kirkwood, Senior Campaign Manager, US

Quality time with the family

I headed to the local pond beach in Northampton, Massachusetts with my family. It wasn’t quite warm enough to go swimming but my son and I made the most of the sandy shores, building sandcastles and moats, and watched as a guy with a remote-controlled boat made it zoom around. - Hunter Silva, Senior Sales Director, US

 It's the little things

I had a great day. I spent the morning writing in my favourite coffee shop and then in the afternoon I took my little one to soft play! – Natasha Vickery-Orme, Creative Content Director

 A pawsome day

My birthday was spent with our new family dog - my nephew Dennis. Lots of sloppy kisses and cuddles.  Also got spoilt with some beautiful flowers and other goodies. Having an extra day off is such a treat. – Kat Charalambous, Head of Campaigns

Not quite the celebration...

The original plan was for a swim in the heated lido and then lunch, thought it would be a quick visit to Audi but we never made it to the lido. - Kev Ellis, Senior Sales and Strategy Director

Food, food, and more food

It was a week-long celebration (think food coma), mostly spent with family and friends. I had an intimate dinner with the family at home; went out with friends to eat unlimited Korean Samgyupsal; and went out of town to try a new restaurant that serves authentic Filipino cuisine and has an amazing view of the Taal Lake (the smallest active volcano in the world).  - Maco Dimayuga, Head of Global Data Operations

Explorer extrodinaire

Having an extra day off for our birthdays is a great perk as it really lets me make the most of the occasion! This year mine was spent exploring Montenegro. Lots of hiking, boat trips, water sports and exploring the coastal towns. - Holly Jones, Marketing Manager
