A sales qualified lead (SQL) is a lead that meets agreed criteria for active sales engagement, typically following marketing qualification and sales review. SQLs are closer to purchase readiness, making them a high-value conversion point. When both teams share a consistent definition of what qualifies as an SQL, handoffs become seamless and performance tracking more reliable.
