Sales velocity measures how quickly opportunities move through the pipeline to closure. It’s calculated by multiplying deal value, win rate, and opportunities, then dividing by sales cycle length.

 

For B2B teams, improving velocity means generating revenue faster with fewer bottlenecks. Analysing velocity over time reveals where process improvements, better alignment, or stronger lead qualification can make the biggest impact, turning small operational changes into meaningful revenue growth.
