First-touch attribution gives full conversion credit to the first marketing interaction that brought a contact or account into the funnel. It’s a simple but useful model for understanding which channels generate initial awareness.

 

In B2B marketing, first-touch attribution helps identify top-of-funnel drivers, like organic search, paid social, or content syndication, that introduce prospects to the brand. While it doesn’t capture later influences, pairing first-touch with multi-touch or last-touch models provides a balanced view of how awareness translates into pipeline creation.
